Homemade Hamburger Helper
I saw an ad for Hamburger Helper and thought, I can do that myself. I has been a long time since I've had it so I dug into my childhood memory to figure out what taste I was going for. I was pretty impressed and my family thought it was really good! Who doesn't love a good ol' American meal anyway!
Mrs. Milly's "Hamburger Helper":
1lb ground beef, browned
1tbsp chili seasoning (see venison chili)
1tsp onion powder
1tsp garlic powder
1tsp salt -to your own taste
1tsp black pepper
1/4 cup water -may need more depending, I used ground venison do I had some moisture already since I didn't need to drain it.
3 slices Velveeta cheese -I had sandwich slices
1 heaping tbsp sour cream
1/2 box bow tie pasta
While browning the meat in large skillet, start water for pasta. Mix chili seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper and water into browned meat. Let simmer for a bit. Add cheese stirring till melted. Then add the sour cream. Stir in cooked pasta.
Serve with veggie of choice.
Enjoy!
